Our Christian Ethos

Recognising its historic foundation, our School will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with our Parish Church of Holy Trinity, Thrussington and the Leicester Diocese.  Our School serves our community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.  We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promote Christian values through the experience we offer to all our pupils.

Our Vision
Our vision is a passionate commitment to learning and recognition of the uniqueness of the individual. We are driven by our desire to ensure all children achieve their best in a respectful and trusting environment, in partnership with parents, the Church and our community.  As one big family.

Holy Trinity Church

Picture
The oldest part of our church dates back to the 13th century.  in 1877 the church was restored and the pews are from this period.  The font is octagonal and is circa 14th century.  The church is built from Ironstone with a Swithland slate roof.  If you look up to the top of the tower, you can see the gargoyles that keep watch over the church.

The Reverend Stirling Gahan was the vicar at Thrussington from 1923 to 1959.   The Reverend Gahan is noted for sharing Holy Communion with Nurse Edith Cavell prior to her execution during World War I for helping allied troops escape occupied Belgium.  He is buried in the churchyard just beyond the door of the church.  His grave was restored in 2015 with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The school holds various events in the church,  Harvest Festival and the Christmas Nativity among them.
