Mathematics Intent

We recognise the importance of Maths in preparing our children for their future. Our aim is for all of our pupils to attain a level of understanding in maths which will enable them to competently solve mathematical problems in the wider world, whether that be handling money, understanding measurements or interpreting and using data.

Careful planning and preparation ensure that throughout the school, children engage in:

• practical activities and games using a variety of resources
• problem solving to challenge thinking
• individual, paired, group and whole class learning and discussions
• purposeful practice where time is given to apply their learning using open and closed tasks
• a range of methods of calculating e.g. mental, pencil & paper and using a calculator
• working with computers as a mathematical tool

Through our creative approach to teaching and learning we also seek to explore and utilise further opportunities to use and apply mathematics across all subject areas, supporting the children to develop an enthusiasm for and fascination with mathematics.​

Computing Intent

We understand that our pupils are growing up in a world where digital literacy is vital. Our school is equipped with interactive boards in all classrooms, a computer suite, a set of laptops and a whole class set of I-pads. In addition, we have a range of programmable toys, data loggers and control boxes so that we can meet the aims of our Computing curriculum:
select, use and combine technology and software to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
use online technology safely, respectfully and responsibly
Have experience of writing computer programmes to solve problems including controlling or simulating physical systems
Understand and apply technology to solve problems in the wider world
We use the DfE funded 'Teach Computing' curriculum to deliver lessons which are mapped out below.
